Using Avianca LifeMiles for Domestic US Flights?

Started by Rachel1990 3 weeks ago 3 replies 92 views
I'm kinda curious about using Avianca LifeMiles for domestic flights within the US. I've mostly used them for international trips and they've been pretty solid for that. But I've been hearing mixed things about availability and taxes when it comes to domestic flights.

Has anyone here tried booking a flight within the US using LifeMiles? How's the availability compared to other programs like United MileagePlus or American AAdvantage? Also, are there any weird fees or things I should watch out for? I'm hoping to snag a good deal for a trip next month. Any tips or experiences would be super helpful!
I've used LifeMiles for domestic flights a couple of times. Availability isn't too great compared to United or American. You're more likely to find seats with United since they're in the same alliance. Fees aren't too bad, but the catch is you might face high taxes and limited flights, especially on popular routes. It's not as straightforward as using the major US carriers' miles, so keep an eye out for hidden fees. Maybe check out United's site first to see if those flights show up there.
I've tried using LifeMiles for domestic flights and, honestly, it's hit or miss. Availability can be pretty limited compared to United MileagePlus. You might need to be flexible with your dates. Also, keep an eye out for the taxes and fees. Sometimes they can be higher than expected, which kind of eats into the savings. If you're set on using them, maybe check for flights on less popular travel days. That's worked out for me in the past. Good luck!
