Air India and Their Massive Aircraft Order - What's the Plan?

Started by GMartinez272 4 weeks ago 2 replies 58 views
So, I was reading about Air India's huge aircraft order earlier this year - they're getting 470 planes from Boeing and Airbus. That's a ton of new metal! It's supposed to be split between 250 from Airbus and 220 from Boeing, including 737 MAXs, 787s, A350s, and A320neos.

I'm curious about how they're going to use all these new aircraft. Are they planning on expanding their international routes or beefing up domestic flights? Also, what's the deal with their fleet plan? They've got some pretty old planes, so maybe it's about time for a refresh.

Anyone have thoughts on whether this is a smart move or just a lot of planes to fill? With Air India merging with Vistara, I wonder how this will affect their strategy. Seems like a big bet - hopefully, it pays off for them! Would love to hear what you all think about this massive order and what it might mean for Air India's future.
I think they're definitely looking to shake things up. Air India's been needing a refresh for a while now. Those older planes can't compete with the newer, more efficient models. With the merger with Vistara, they're probably aiming to boost both domestic and international networks. I'd bet they're eyeing routes to North America and Europe with those A350s and 787s. It'll be interesting to see if they can fill all those seats, though. Do you think they'll face any challenges integrating all these new planes into their operations?
