Weird Question: Using Aeroplan Points for Stopovers?

Started by SK350 1 months ago 3 replies 81 views
Alright, so I've been diving into Aeroplan's program lately. Heard they've got some pretty cool stopover options for just 5,000 points, but I'm a bit confused about how it all works. Anyone tried this?

From what I gather, you can add a stopover for up to 45 days on one-way flights. Seems like a sweet deal if you're planning a longer trip and want to explore more places. But, what's the catch? Is it easy to book these stopovers online, or do you have to call in? And how's availability looking these days?

I'm thinking of planning a trip to Europe next year and would love to squeeze in an extra city or two without breaking the bank. Any tips or experiences would be super helpful!
Yeah, I tried booking a stopover with Aeroplan a while back. It's a sweet deal for sure, but booking can be a bit of a hassle. I found the online system kinda clunky, and sometimes you have to call in to actually get the stopover added. Availability can be hit or miss depending on the city and time of year, so it's good to be flexible. If you're planning for Europe, try booking as early as you can. It'll give you a better shot at snagging those stopovers.
Totally get the confusion. I tried using Aeroplan points for a stopover last year. Booking online was a nightmare for me, so I had to call their customer service. They were helpful, but it took a while to sort everything out. Availability can be hit or miss, especially during peak travel times. If you're flexible with dates and destinations, it might work out. Planning for Europe sounds awesome-definitely try adding a stopover in a city you haven't been to!
