Shooting at Miami Airport: Best Spots for Morning Light?

Started by Nicholas_Route 4 hours ago 3 replies 12 views
Hey everyone! I'm planning a trip down to Miami soon, and I'm super excited to do some plane spotting at MIA. I've heard the morning light can be pretty amazing there, but I'm not quite sure where the best spots are for capturing that golden hour magic.

Does anyone have recommendations for good locations around MIA where I can get some great shots in the morning? I'm mainly interested in departures, but arrivals could be cool too. I've got a trusty 70-300mm lens, if that helps with any advice.

Also, any tips on dealing with the humidity or potential heat haze in the mornings would be awesome. Appreciate any advice you guys have!
For morning light, you might want to check out the El Dorado Furniture parking lot on NW 77th Ct. It's a popular spot for departures on Runway 09. You should get some nice shots with your 70-300mm. Just keep in mind the heat haze, especially in the summer. Try shooting earlier in the morning before it gets too intense, and maybe use a polarizer to cut through some of the glare. Enjoy your trip!
You should also try the Holman Stadium area near NW 25th St. It's not as crowded as some other spots, and you can catch departures and arrivals with that lens. About the heat haze, it can be a pain, especially in Miami. Try shooting earlier in the morning when it's cooler to minimize it. Humidity's gonna be there regardless, but staying hydrated helps you stay focused. Enjoy the trip!
