Why Some Cool Military Planes Had Such Short Production Runs

It's kinda wild to think about how some of the coolest military planes were made in such small numbers. Like, the B-2 Spirit - only 21 of those were ever built. That's insane for something so advanced. And let's not forget about the SR-71 Blackbird! Just 32 of them were made. I guess the high costs and changing military needs really affected these production numbers.

The Cold War ending probably played a big role too. Once the threat level changed, I bet the military shifted focus and budgets elsewhere. But man, wouldn't it have been awesome to see more of these planes in action? I think part of what makes them legendary is their rarity.

What do you guys think? Do you wish they'd built more of these aircraft, or do you think the limited numbers make them more special? Also, with tech constantly evolving, do you think we'll see future aircraft following the same trend of limited production?
Totally, those planes are legendary partly because they're so rare. The cost was a huge factor. The B-2 was crazy expensive, like over $2 billion per plane. Same with the SR-71, its tech was way ahead for its time, but maintenance costs were through the roof. With tech always changing, I think we'll keep seeing limited runs for really advanced stuff. Look at the F-22 Raptor-stopped at 195 units. Do you think the focus on drones will mean even fewer manned aircraft in the future?
