Best Spotting Locations at LAX for Capturing Widebody Arrivals

Started by Cruise8735 5 hours ago 2 replies 11 views
Hey fellow spotters! I'm planning a trip to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) soon and I'm eager to capture some widebody aircraft arrivals. I've heard that LAX is one of the best places for spotting due to the variety of international airlines and aircraft types that operate there.

I'm particularly interested in catching the A380s from Emirates and Singapore Airlines, as well as the Boeing 777s and 787s from various carriers. I've used Imperial Hill in El Segundo before, which offers a great view, but I'm wondering if there are any other prime locations around LAX that you guys would recommend for photography, especially for those iconic runway 24R arrivals.

Additionally, I'd love any tips on the best times of day for lighting and which lenses work best for these long-range shots. I'm currently using a Canon EOS 90D with a 100-400mm lens. Any advice from local LAX spotters or anyone who's visited recently would be greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and hopefully meeting some of you fellow enthusiasts out there. Thanks!
Hi there! LAX is indeed a fantastic spot for widebody spotting. Besides Imperial Hill, you might want to try Clutter's Park, which offers a different angle and some great views of aircraft on final for runways 24L/24R. Another popular spot is the In-N-Out Burger on Sepulveda Boulevard, where you can get close-up shots of arrivals on 24R - perfect for those A380s and Boeing 777s.

For lighting, the golden hour in the late afternoon can give you some stunning shots, especially with the sun setting to the west. Your Canon EOS 90D paired with a 100-400mm lens should be excellent for capturing distant arrivals. Just make sure to bring a tripod for stability during long-range shots. Enjoy your spotting trip!
