Hey everyone! I'm planning a trip to Asia next spring and want to make the most of my AAdvantage miles. I've been eyeing a Business Class seat on Cathay Pacific from JFK to HKG and then onto Tokyo. I've read about using AAdvantage miles for Cathay's Business Class as a sweet spot, but I'm unsure about the best strategy to find award availability.
Also, I'm wondering if anyone has experience mixing partners for the return trip, maybe using JAL or Qatar Airways to maximize the experience or availability?
Another question: would it be worth considering using a mix of cash and miles to upgrade if availability is scarce? I've got around 150,000 miles saved up, and I'm open to any creative tips or recent experiences you might have had!
