Best Lenses for Capturing Aircraft at JFK

Started by PamelaDude42 5 hours ago 1 replies 24 views
Hey fellow aviation photographers! I'm planning a trip to JFK (IATA: JFK) soon and I want to make the most of my time spotting there. I've got a Canon EOS R5 and I'm considering which lens would be best to capture those stunning arrivals and departures. I currently have the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, but I'm thinking of adding the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM to my kit for more reach.

Has anyone used these lenses at JFK? How do they handle the lighting, especially during the golden hour and in less-than-ideal weather conditions? Also, any tips on the best spotting locations around JFK for getting those iconic shots would be much appreciated. I'm particularly interested in the best angles for capturing widebodies like the A380 and 777.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences. Let's make this a great resource for anyone heading to JFK with their camera gear!
