Hey everyone, so I just read an article about AirAsia being considered the world's best low-cost airline. I've flown with them quite a few times since I've been living in Southeast Asia, and I honestly think they're pretty solid for what you pay. The AirAsia group is kinda big, with a bunch of subsidiaries like AirAsia Cambodia, Thai AirAsia, and Indonesia AirAsia. They've got a huge network, but the structure can get a bit confusing. They even have AirAsia X for longer routes with those A330s.
I think the key thing with AirAsia is managing expectations. You get what you pay for, right? The flights I've been on were mostly on time and the planes were clean. Basic but efficient. Anyone else think their luggage fees are a bit steep though?
I'm curious about how others feel about their experience, especially with the longer routes on AirAsia X. Do you think it's worth it compared to other budget airlines? And with the upcoming restructuring and renaming in 2026, do you think it'll change anything for us travelers? Let me know your thoughts!
