Anyone Tried Alaska Mileage Plan for Cathay Pacific Flights?

Started by MSPRunway39 • 18 hours ago • 4 replies • 35 views
Hey everyone, I'm planning a trip to Hong Kong next spring and I've heard Alaska Mileage Plan has some solid redemption options for Cathay Pacific flights. I have a decent stash of Alaska miles and was thinking this might be the way to go.

However, I'm not entirely sure about the availability for business class or how easy it is to book. Have any of you had experience booking Cathay flights with Alaska miles? How's the availability and redemption process? Any tricks or tips?

Also, if you've flown them recently, how's the service and cabin experience post-pandemic? Are they still top-notch? Would love to hear your thoughts before I dive in. Thanks!
Used Alaska miles for Cathay last year. Business class availability can be hit or miss, so flexibility is key. Check the site often and try different dates. Sometimes calling Alaska directly helps too. As for the cabin experience, I flew them in October and the service was still excellent despite some changes post-pandemic. The food was good and the seats comfy. Definitely worth the miles if you can snag a seat. Have you checked if there's a change in how many miles it takes now?
I booked Cathay Pacific using Alaska miles a few months ago. Availability can be tricky, especially for business class, but persistence pays off. Set alerts with sites like ExpertFlyer if you can. Calling Alaska can sometimes reveal seats not showing online. As for the flight itself, Cathay's still solid post-pandemic-service was great and the cabin felt clean and comfortable. Definitely worth it if you can snag a seat. Have you checked how flexible your travel dates are? That might help.
I used Alaska miles for a Cathay Pacific flight a few months back. Booking business class was a bit of a challenge, though. Needed to be pretty flexible with dates. Keep an eye on the Alaska site and maybe call them directly if you don't see availability online. The cabin service was still excellent, even post-pandemic. Definitely one of the better experiences I've had in recent years. Just be ready to jump on it when you see the seats open up!
