So, I was reading about the TSA and the stuff they 'confiscate' at checkpoints. Turns out, they screen over 3.3 million carry-on bags every day. That's a lot of bags! And most of the stuff they end up with isn't technically confiscated. They call it 'voluntarily abandoned property.' Basically, people just forget their stuff is in there, and then they have to give it up if they wanna catch their flight.
Kinda makes you wonder-what are the top 5 things people leave behind? I bet a ton are pocket knives and water bottles. But what else? Anyone here ever had to leave something behind? I've heard stories of people forgetting they had a corkscrew or a lighter in their bag. Must be frustrating!
I'm curious how many of those items are things people actually care about. Like, would you miss a pocket knife or a favorite pair of scissors? Or is it mostly just stuff you don't mind losing? Also, do you guys think the TSA should have a better system for returning these items, or is it just the price we pay for flying safely? Let me know what you think!
