So, I just read that Lufthansa's planning to transfer up to eight A350-900s to TAP Air Portugal after 2030. It's all part of their plan to snag nearly half of TAP. They're aiming for 49.9% ownership. Sounds like a decent move if you ask me. TAP wants to boost its fleet to 117 by 2035 and even more after that. That's a lot of planes!
The Portuguese government spilled the beans about Lufthansa being their strategic partner. Makes sense, I guess. Lufthansa's pretty solid, and TAP could use the boost. But those A350s aren't cheap, right? Looks like TAP's gonna need somewhere around 3 to 4 billion euros for new planes.
I'm curious about a couple of things though. How do you guys think this is gonna change TAP? Will they become a bigger player in Europe, or will it just help them keep up with the competition? And what about Lufthansa? Are they spreading themselves too thin, or is this just a smart long-term play? Let me know what you think!
