Chase Sapphire Preferred for Travel Insurance: Worth It?

Started by CXAvgeek44 • 2 weeks ago • 7 replies • 51 views
I've been thinking about getting the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, mainly for the travel insurance benefits. I've heard it's pretty solid with coverage for trip cancellations, delays, and stuff like that. But I'm curious, has anyone actually used these benefits? How was the process?

I know the card comes with a decent points earning rate on travel and dining, which is nice, but I'm mainly focused on the insurance aspect right now. I think having that safety net could be really handy, especially with all the travel uncertainties these days.

Would love to hear if anyone's had any experience with filing claims or if it's more hassle than it's worth. Also, any tips on maximizing the travel insurance benefits would be great!
I've actually used the Chase Sapphire Preferred for a trip delay claim. Wasn't too bad, honestly. Just make sure you have all your receipts and documentation ready. They needed proof of delay from the airline and receipts for expenses. Took about a month to get reimbursed. Not super fast, but it worked. As for maximizing, I always book travel directly with the card to ensure coverage. Double-check the fine print on what qualifies, though. Some stuff is excluded.
Haven't used the insurance myself, but I've heard mixed reviews. Some folks say it's smooth if you have all your ducks in a row-like receipts and delay proofs. Others mention it can feel like pulling teeth. One thing to keep in mind: terms can change, so always double-check what's covered before you rely on it. Anyone else notice if they've tightened up on their claims process recently?
I had to file a claim once with the Chase Sapphire Preferred, and it was a mixed bag. The process took some time, and they asked for a lot of documentation. Make sure you keep everything-receipts, confirmations, anything that proves your case. It's not exactly hassle-free, but the payout was worth it in the end. Definitely read the fine print to understand what's covered. Anyone else notice if the coverage has changed recently?
I've got the Chase Sapphire Preferred, but thankfully, haven't had to use the travel insurance yet. I've heard mixed things, though. Some friends say the key is having all your documentation ready before you even start the claim. One thing I did notice is they cover up to $10,000 per person for cancellations, which is pretty decent. Just curious, has anyone compared it to the benefits offered by other cards like the Amex Platinum?
I've had the Chase Sapphire Preferred for a bit now. Used the travel insurance once for a canceled flight. The process was a bit of a slog, honestly. Lots of paperwork, but they did come through in the end. Just make sure to keep all your receipts and documentation, like everyone says. It's not hassle-free, but it's not terrible either if you're organized. Anyone else have tips for speeding up the claims process?
I've got the Chase Sapphire Preferred too, but haven't needed the insurance yet. I did hear from a buddy that it helped him out when his luggage got lost. They covered the essentials he had to buy while waiting for it. He did say having all the receipts and a copy of the airline report was key. Anyone know if they cover missed connections due to airline delays? That'd be super helpful info.
