Smoke Scare on Southwest 737 in Vegas - What Happened?

So, I just read that a Southwest 737 had some drama in Vegas with smoke coming from its right landing gear. This happened while it was taxiing for takeoff at Harry Reid International. Another Southwest plane behind them spotted the smoke and told air traffic control, which is pretty wild. Thankfully, it got back to the gate safely.

I wonder what actually caused the smoke? Was it just a brake overheating or something more serious like a fire issue? I guess we'll have to wait for more details. It got me thinking about how often stuff like this happens and how quickly crews are able to respond. Seems like good communication between the crews and ATC really made a difference here.

Has anyone else heard anything more about this? Or know how often these kinds of gear-related incidents occur? It's kind of reassuring to see how quickly they dealt with it, but still a bit nerve-wracking to think about. Let me know what you guys think!
Yeah, probably just overheated brakes. Happens when the brakes are used a lot, like during taxiing or after landing, and they don't cool off enough. But it's great how quickly ATC and the crew handled it. These guys are trained for stuff like this, so they can catch it before it becomes a big issue. As for frequency, it's not super common, but not unheard of either. Better safe than sorry, right? Curious to see the final report if they release one.
Yeah, overheated brakes could definitely be it. I've heard of cases where it's just a bit of rubber or grease on the brakes causing smoke too. It's pretty common for pilots to keep an eye on brake temps, especially in places like Vegas where it's hot. As for how often it happens, not super rare but usually not serious. Good teamwork between the pilots and ATC, though. Anyone know if Southwest mentioned anything official about it?
