IAG's $561mn Buyback - Smart Move or Just Playing Safe?

Started by AVDude255 • 3 weeks ago • 1 replies • 32 views
Hey everyone! So, IAG just announced a $561 million share buyback program. Honestly, I didn't see this coming, but it's pretty interesting. I guess they're feeling confident enough to invest back into themselves. Maybe they've got some cash lying around after all the pandemic chaos?

I know buybacks can be a sign that a company thinks its stock is undervalued or just a way to reward shareholders. But I wonder if it's the best use of cash right now. I mean, with all the environmental pressures and the push for sustainable aviation, do you think they could've used that money for greener tech or fleet upgrades instead?

And what do you guys think this says about the current state of the airline industry? Are things bouncing back faster than we thought, or is it just a strategic move to keep investors happy? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
