Best Lens for Spotting at Barcelona El Prat (BCN)?

Hey folks! I'm planning a trip to Barcelona soon and am super excited to do some plane spotting at El Prat (BCN). I've got a Canon DSLR and am on the hunt for the perfect lens to take along. I've been considering the Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6, but I'm not sure if it's the best choice for BCN.

From what I've read, BCN has some great spots for both takeoffs and landings. I'm particularly interested in capturing aircraft on approach. Does anyone have experience spotting there? Would love to hear what lenses you've found work well, especially for long-distance shooting. Is there anything else I should keep in mind, like heat haze? Any tips or advice would be hugely appreciated!
I've used the Canon 100-400mm at BCN, and it's a solid choice, especially for approach shots. The range is versatile enough for both close-ups and wider shots. Just watch out for heat haze, especially during midday. It can ruin those long-distance shots. If you're there in the afternoon, try to find a spot with the sun behind you for better lighting. If you can, bring a monopod. It'll help with stability when you're zoomed all the way in. Enjoy your trip!
