Worth Using United MileagePlus Miles for Domestic First Class?

Started by Route4933 • 1 months ago • 2 replies • 67 views
So I'm sitting on a decent stash of United MileagePlus miles and I'm wondering if it's worth using them for domestic first class flights. I've been eyeing a trip from Chicago to San Francisco and the idea of a little extra comfort on a longer domestic flight sounds appealing.

Has anyone done this recently? How's the availability and experience been? I've heard mixed things about the value of using miles for domestic flights vs. saving them for international redemptions. But honestly, I could use a little upgrade for this trip.

Also, does anyone know if there are any hidden fees or restrictions to watch out for when booking domestic first with miles? I don't want any surprises. Any tips would be much appreciated!
I'd say go for it if you want the extra comfort. I've used United miles for domestic first class a few times, and it can be nice, especially on longer flights like Chicago to SF. Availability can be hit or miss, so check early. One thing to watch out for is the taxes and fees-they're usually low for domestic, but always double-check so you don't get surprised. And if you can, try to book on a plane with the newer Polaris seats. They're awesome!
