Canada's New Defense Pick: From F-35 Skeptic to Gripen Guy?

So, Canada's got a new guy leading their Defense Investment Agency, Stephen Fuhr. This dude used to fly CF-188s but isn't exactly besties with the Royal Canadian Air Force these days. Why? Well, turns out he's been pretty vocal against the F-35s. Back in 2011, he even got mocked for saying Canada shouldn't go for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Now, he's talking about maybe going with a mixed fleet that includes the Saab Gripen. Honestly, I think it's kinda bold. I mean, everyone knows the F-35 is flashy and all, but maybe Fuhr's got a point? Gripens are solid too-they're cheaper and still pack a punch.

Wonder how this'll play out with the RCAF. Seems like they weren't too happy with his comments back then. Do you guys think a mixed fleet is a smart move for Canada? Or should they just stick with the F-35s and avoid the drama? Curious to hear what you all think about this whole situation.
I get where Fuhr's coming from. The F-35s are cutting-edge, but they're also crazy expensive. The Gripen's not a bad option, especially if you're looking at cost-effectiveness and maintenance. Plus, having a mixed fleet could give Canada more flexibility. But I wonder how the RCAF feels about maintaining two different aircraft types. That could be a logistical headache. Anyone else think there might be political pressure influencing this decision too?
