So I just saw that Iran's Atlas Air has added an MD-88 to their fleet. Pretty cool to see this model still flying around! The MD-88 isn't exactly the newest bird in the sky, but it's got its charm. I think it's interesting that Atlas Air chose to bring one into their lineup.
I know airlines in the region sometimes get creative with their fleet choices due to the challenges they face with sanctions and such. It makes me wonder if we'll see more older models being used over there. Anyone know if they're planning to get more MD-88s or if this is a one-off thing?
Also, how do you guys think this will affect their operations? I mean, the MD-88 is a solid plane, but it's not exactly the most fuel-efficient compared to newer aircraft. Maybe it's a temporary move until they can upgrade?
Would love to hear what you all think about this move by Atlas Air. Is there a niche for older models like the MD-88 in today's aviation market, especially in places like Iran? Let me know your thoughts!
