Turkish Airlines Expanding to San Francisco - Thoughts?

So, I heard Turkish Airlines is launching a new nonstop route from Istanbul to San Francisco in the next few months. I think it's supposed to start in April 2024. Pretty cool move! This new route will use their Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which is a nice choice for long hauls, I guess.

I'm curious how this will shake things up with other airlines offering flights between Europe and the West Coast. Does anyone think this could impact Lufthansa or British Airways traffic to SFO? Also, I've read that Turkish is aiming to tap into the tech industry travel demand - makes sense with Silicon Valley right there.

Would love to hear what you guys think about this. Is it going to be a game changer, or just another addition to their growing list of destinations? Seems like Turkish Airlines is really expanding aggressively lately. Can't wait to see how this plays out!
I think it's a smart move by Turkish Airlines. The 787-9 is comfy for long hauls, and with San Francisco being such a tech hub, they're probably aiming to attract a lot of business travelers. Lufthansa and British Airways might feel a bit of pressure, but it all depends on pricing and connections. Turkish has a solid reputation and their IST hub is pretty efficient. Curious to see if they'll offer competitive fares to lure some of the tech crowd away from other airlines.
Wonder if this'll put some pressure on prices for flights to SFO from Europe. More competition usually means better deals for us travelers. Turkish Airlines has been stepping up their game with these new routes, and with the tech industry in the Bay Area, they've got a solid strategy. But will the service and connections be good enough to lure passengers away from Lufthansa or BA? Only time will tell, I guess.
Interesting move by Turkish Airlines. They've been expanding like crazy, and adding a route to SFO makes sense with the tech industry there. I wonder if Lufthansa and British Airways will adjust their strategies because of this. More competition might lead to better prices, which is always good for us. Plus, the 787-9 is pretty comfortable for those long flights. Anyone know if they're planning more routes to other U.S. cities soon? That'd be something to watch.
Turkish Airlines jumping into the SFO scene is definitely interesting. I think they could give Lufthansa and British Airways a run for their money, especially with the Dreamliner. Heard those planes are pretty fuel-efficient, which might help keep prices competitive. Wonder if this'll also mean more connecting options for folks traveling from other parts of Asia through Istanbul. Could be a win for passengers if it shakes up the pricing and options a bit. Anyone know if they're planning to add any other West Coast cities soon?
I'm curious to see how this will affect connections from Asia too. With Istanbul being a major hub, Turkish Airlines might scoop up more passengers looking for one-stop flights to the West Coast from places like India or the Middle East. Plus, the 787-9's fuel efficiency could help keep ticket prices competitive. Anyone know if Turkish offers a good business class product compared to Lufthansa or British Airways? That could make a difference for tech travelers.
