Hey folks, recently spent a day spotting at Istanbul Airport (IST) and ran into a bit of a headache with glass reflections. There's this great spot in the terminal where you can see the runways, but shooting through the glass was a pain. Tried a few things like pressing the lens against the glass, but it's not always practical, especially when it's busy. Anyone got tips or tricks for reducing those pesky reflections? Maybe something I can do in post-processing? I'm using a Nikon D7500 with a 70-300mm lens, if that helps. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Spotting at Istanbul Airport (IST) - Dealing with Glass Reflections?
Polarizing filter could help a bit with those reflections, though it's not a silver bullet. Also, try using a black cloth or a hoodie to block out reflections around the lens. I've seen folks use a rubber lens hood too, which can help press against the glass better. In post, maybe mess around with the highlights and shadows to minimize reflections, but it's a bit hit or miss. Anyone else have luck with different methods?
Polarizing filters help, but they don't always work miracles, especially if the sun's at a bad angle. I've had some luck with a rubber lens hood. You can press it right up against the glass and it blocks out a lot of reflections. As for post-processing, try playing with the dehaze and contrast sliders in Lightroom. Sometimes you can reduce the reflections a bit that way. Anyone else have other tricks?
