TSA PreCheck Lets You Go Airside Without a Flight! Thoughts?

Started by DLMAX 1 days ago 2 replies 32 views
Hey everyone! Just read about this new TSA program called Gateside by TSA PreCheck. It's pretty wild. Basically, if you're a PreCheck member, you can now get through security and hang out in the terminal even if you're not flying. Kind of like the old days before 9/11.

Right now, it's only at 13 airports, but they're planning to roll it out to more places. I think it's kind of cool, especially if you're someone who loves aviation and just wants to go plane spotting or grab a bite at those airside restaurants without needing a ticket.

But I wonder how this might affect airport security lines. Do you think it could make them longer for actual travelers? Or maybe it'll encourage more people to sign up for PreCheck?

I also wonder if other countries might start doing something similar. I've always thought it was a bit of a bummer not being able to access the terminal without a boarding pass.

Anyway, curious to hear what you all think about this. Would you use this Gateside thing? Or is it not really your cup of tea? Let me know!
Seems like a cool idea for folks who love hanging out at airports. I remember when you could go all the way to the gate to see off friends and family. As for security lines, I guess if they limit the number of people who can use Gateside each day, it might not be too bad. But yeah, if tons of people start doing this, it could slow things down. Curious to see if any other countries will jump on board with something similar.
