So I just read that Aena, the biggest airport operator out there, is actually worth more than United Airlines by over $10 billion! Didn't see that coming. I mean, we always talk about airlines and their valuations, but airport operators? That's new to me.
Apparently, Aena handled about twice the number of passengers that United did in 2025. Makes sense, I guess, considering they run a bunch of airports globally. But still, I would've thought airlines like United would be on top, you know?
It's kind of wild to think an operator could be worth more than one of the biggest airlines. I wonder how much of this is because of post-pandemic travel demand? Or maybe it's just better business strategies on Aena's part?
Anyone else surprised by this? Or did I just miss the memo on how big these airport operators have become? And do you think we'll see more airport operators climbing up in value compared to airlines? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
