So United's doing something pretty cool. They just announced a bunch of new routes to Europe, and one of them is gonna be their shortest ever for a Transatlantic flight - only 5 hours! They're using the Boeing 737 MAX 8 to connect from the East Coast to some less busy spots in Europe.
I think it's neat they're using the 737 MAX 8 for this. Those planes are efficient and comfy for narrowbodies, but I always thought of them more for domestic flights. Not sure how I feel about a Transatlantic trip on one - anyone tried it yet?
I'm curious which specific destinations they're aiming for with these shorter hops. Seems like a smart move to tap into secondary cities where the demand might not be high enough for bigger aircraft. Also, with flights being 5 hours, it kinda changes the game for quick trips across the pond.
