Vueling Drops Flights to Wales - What's Next for Cardiff?

Hey everyone, just saw that Vueling is cutting their flights to Wales later this year. They're stopping their Cardiff to Malaga route on Oct. 22, and the Cardiff to Alicante route is ending on Oct. 24. I guess it's all about adjusting their network based on demand. It's a bummer for folks in Wales who liked those direct flights to Spain.

Cardiff Airport didn't seem too happy about it, but at least Ryanair and TUI are still flying from Cardiff to Alicante. So not a total loss, I guess. Vueling's part of that big International Airlines Group, so you'd think they'd have enough resources to make these routes work. Been flying out of Cardiff since 2012, so it's a bit of a surprise to see this change.

What do you all think? Is this just a temporary move, or are we seeing a trend of budget airlines pulling back on certain routes? And do you think Cardiff will be able to attract another airline to replace Vueling? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Definitely a bummer for Cardiff. Vueling has been a staple for those Spain trips. I think it's a mix of both demand issues and maybe the competition from Ryanair and TUI.
