SkyAlps Expands with Slovakian AOC and Q400s - Thoughts?

Hey everyone, just read that Italy's SkyAlps is branching out into Slovakia with a new AOC and will be using two Q400s. Can't read the full article without a subscription, but thought it was interesting enough to share. I think it's cool to see a regional airline like SkyAlps expanding its operations. The Q400 is a solid choice for regional routes - it's got decent range and capacity without being too big.

I'm curious how this move into Slovakia will play out for them. Are they looking to tap into new markets or just trying to diversify their operations? Also, what do you guys think about the Q400s in this role? It seems like a good fit, but maybe some of you have other thoughts.

Always wonder how these smaller airlines decide where to expand. Would be great to hear any insights or if anyone has more info on SkyAlps' strategy here. Is this a common move for regional carriers in Europe?

I think it's a smart move for SkyAlps to use Q400s. Those planes are great for short hops with limited demand. They can handle smaller airports too, which might help them tap into underserved routes in Slovakia. As for why they're expanding there, maybe they're trying to capture some of the low-cost market or just spreading their wings beyond Italy. Not sure if it's common, but regional airlines do seem to be exploring new markets more these days. Anyone know if there's a specific demand in Slovakia they're targeting?
