Spotting at JFK - Best Lenses for Capturing Takeoffs?

Hey folks! I'm planning a spotting trip to JFK and trying to figure out the best lens to bring for capturing those epic takeoffs. I've got a Canon 70-200mm f/4, but I'm wondering if I should rent something longer, like a 100-400mm. I know JFK has some pretty distant spots, and I don't want to miss out on those amazing widebody departures.

Anyone who's been there, what do you think? Is the 70-200mm enough, or should I go for more reach? Also, any specific spots at JFK you recommend for takeoffs? I've heard about the T5 parking lot but not sure if that's the best. Would love some advice from anyone who's been there! Thanks!

I'd say go for the 100-400mm if you can. The 70-200mm is great, but at JFK, the extra reach can make a big difference, especially for those widebodies that seem to glide away forever. I've shot from the T5 parking lot, and it's decent, but if you're looking for something a bit closer, try Inwood Park or Bayswater Park. They're both pretty popular with spotters. Just keep an eye on the weather and time of day for the best light.
