So I just read that British Airways is planning to use the A321XLR for a new route from London Heathrow to Boston starting next summer. Pretty interesting choice, right? I mean, I get that the A321XLR is super efficient and perfect for long thin routes, but I always thought Boston would be a solid widebody market.
I guess it makes sense if they're looking to increase frequency or test the waters before committing a larger aircraft. Also, I imagine the lower operating costs are a huge plus.
Anyone have thoughts on how this might affect the competition on this route? Do you think passengers will notice much of a difference moving from a widebody to a narrowbody for this flight? And what about the business class product on the A321XLR? Curious if it'll stack up against the offerings on larger jets. Let's hear what you guys think!
