So, there's this big showdown coming up in the widebody world: the Boeing 777-9 and the Airbus A350-1000. It's pretty interesting 'cause the A350-1000 has been flying for almost a decade by the time the 777-9 finally enters service. Kinda feels like the tortoise and the hare situation, you know?
The 777-9 will be the largest twin-engine airliner, which is impressive. Bigger planes mean more passengers, and possibly more revenue for airlines. But, Airbus has had all this time to build a solid customer base and prove its capabilities on long-haul routes.
I'm really curious to see if Boeing can make up for lost time with the 777-9's size and capacity. Can a larger plane really outshine years of established service? And what about fuel efficiency-how do these two stack up in that department? I think that'll be a major factor for airlines deciding between them.
Anyone have a preference for one over the other, or think one will pull ahead in the 2030s? Also, how do you guys think the recent delays for Boeing might affect its competitiveness?
