Is Amex Gold Worth It for Earning Membership Rewards Points?

So I've been eyeing the Amex Gold card for a while now, mainly for its Membership Rewards points. I eat out a lot and the 4x points on dining sounds tempting. But I'm not sure if the annual fee is worth it. I've heard you can really rack up points fast if you play it right, maybe even cover some travel costs.
