So, I was reading about the Boeing 777X and its GE9X engines. Turns out, these engines are kinda rare in terms of where you can get them serviced. Unlike the older CFM56 that's been around forever and has support everywhere, the GE9X is still pretty new and not as many places can handle them yet.
Honestly, it makes sense, right? New tech always takes a bit of time to get the support network built up. Plus, these new engines are super complex compared to the older ones. I guess that means if you're flying or maintaining a 777X right now, you might have to plan a bit more around where you're gonna get your engine serviced.
I'm curious though, how long do you guys think it'll be before more maintenance facilities can handle these engines? And do you think this could impact airlines' decisions to start using the 777X? I mean, if there aren't many places to get these engines looked at, that could be a pretty big deal. What do you all think?
