Best Way to Earn Delta MQMs with Credit Cards?

Started by PatrickLanding14 1 weeks ago 4 replies 47 views
So, I'm trying to hit Delta Silver Medallion status before the end of the year, but I'm falling short on MQMs. I've heard rumors about people using credit cards to boost their MQM totals. Can anyone explain how that works? I know there's the Delta Reserve card with the MQM boost after spending a certain amount, but I'm not sure if it's worth the annual fee just for that. Are there any other strategies or card combos that could help? I mainly fly domestic, and I'd love to hear if you've had success with this. Also, any tips on timing the spend to make sure the MQMs post in time would be awesome. Thanks!
Yeah, the Delta Reserve card is one of the main ways to earn MQMs through spending. You're right, though, the annual fee is steep, so it depends on how much you value that Medallion status. Another option is the Delta Platinum card, which also offers MQM boosts but with a lower fee. For timing, I'd say try to hit the spending threshold a couple of months before the deadline to ensure the MQMs post on time. I've heard of folks using both cards if they're big spenders, but that might be overkill if you're just flying domestic.
I've used the Delta Reserve card before, and the MQM boost is legit if you can hit the spend threshold. But yeah, that annual fee is no joke. If you're mainly flying domestic, maybe look into the Delta Platinum card too. It has a lower annual fee and still offers some MQM bonuses. As for timing, try to complete the spending early in your card's billing cycle. That way, you can ensure the MQMs post before the end of the year.
If you can stomach the Delta Reserve card's fee, it might be worth it for the MQM boost, especially if you're close to the spending threshold. But, think about the Platinum Delta SkyMiles card too. It has a lower fee and you can still earn MQMs with it. Timing-wise, aim to hit the spend early in your billing cycle to ensure MQMs post in time. Also, check if any of your upcoming trips can be upgraded to get a few more MQMs.
