Apparently, the transponder accidentally squawked the hijacking code (7500) while en route from Warsaw to Tel Aviv. Can you imagine the chaos that would've caused? The plane was actually operated by Electra Airways, a Bulgarian carrier, using an Airbus A320 (LZ-EAB).
I guess false alarms like this are rare but when they happen, they must be a nightmare for everyone involved.
