Stumbled on a Set of Airline-Themed Coasters - Collectible?

Started by NHE175 4 weeks ago 3 replies 63 views
So, I was cleaning out my uncle's attic and found a set of airline-themed coasters! There's about a dozen of them, each with different airlines from the past, like Pan Am, TWA, and Eastern. They're in pretty decent condition, some wear and tear but the logos are still clear.

I've never really thought about coasters as collectibles, but these seem kinda cool. Anyone else ever come across something like this? Are they worth holding onto? I haven't seen too many of these around, so maybe they're rare? Not sure if I should display them or just stash them away.

Would love to hear if anyone else collects airline stuff like this, or if you've got any tips on how to keep them in good shape. Also curious if they hold any value or if it's more of a nostalgia thing. Let me know what you think!
Those coasters sound like a fun find! Airline memorabilia can be pretty collectible, especially with big names like Pan Am and TWA. The value might depend on the condition and the demand from collectors. I'd suggest keeping them in a cool, dry place to prevent further wear. If you're thinking of displaying them, maybe a shadow box would work to keep them protected. I don't know about exact values, but it's definitely a nostalgia thing for a lot of folks. Ever thought about checking eBay to see if similar ones are listed?
I've got a few airline collectibles myself-mostly pins and model planes. Coasters aren't something I've seen much of, but those sound pretty awesome, especially with airlines that have such a nostalgic vibe. They might not be super valuable money-wise, but there's definitely a market for airline memorabilia. If you ever decide to sell, check out sites like eBay to get an idea of their worth. As for keeping them in good shape, maybe just store them in a dry place away from sunlight. Displaying them could be cool too, especially if you're into that vintage airline look!
