Cathay Cargo Boosting Capacity with A330 Freighter via Air HK!

Hey all, just read that Cathay Cargo is planning to bump up its capacity by adding an A330-300(P2F) through Air Hong Kong. They're leasing it from Cargo Aircraft Management, and it should join Air HK's fleet by Q4 2026. Seems like this is part of their strategy to handle more routes in mainland China and nearby areas, especially with the new A350Fs on the way too.

I think it's pretty cool to see Cathay working with Air Hong Kong like this. Makes sense to expand their reach, especially with the growing demand for cargo in the region. But I'm curious - do you guys think this will really help them grab a bigger share of the regional market? Also, how do you feel about the timing? 2026 feels a bit far off, but maybe that's just how long these conversions and leases take.

Anyway, keen to hear what you all think about Cathay's move here. Will it make a big difference, or is it just a small step in the grand scheme of things?
Leasing an A330-300(P2F) seems like a solid move, but yeah, 2026 does feel like it's ages away. I guess these things take time, especially with all the logistics and paperwork. As for grabbing more market share, it could definitely help, especially if demand keeps rising. But with the A350Fs also coming in, it feels like they're setting up for long-term growth. Wonder how the competition will respond, though. Anyone know if other airlines in the region are making similar moves?
Yeah, the 2026 timeline seems a bit long, but these conversions aren't exactly quick. Plus, securing leases and all the necessary approvals can drag things out. I think it's a smart move for Cathay, though. The cargo market in Asia is booming, and they've gotta keep up. The A330's not huge like the 747s, but it's efficient for regional routes. It'll definitely help them get a bigger slice of the pie, especially if they time it right with demand spikes. Wonder if we'll see more airlines following suit?
Adding an A330-300(P2F) sounds like a smart move for Cathay, especially with the demand in mainland China. But yeah, 2026 does feel like a long wait. I guess that's just how it goes with aircraft conversions and leases. The A350Fs will be interesting to see too. Wonder if they'll eventually phase out some older models. Do you think this partnership with Air HK will lead to more joint ventures in the future?
