Hey everyone, I recently came across a vintage United Airlines amenity kit from the late 80s. It's got some pretty cool stuff inside like an old-school toothbrush, some branded socks, and a mini comb. I'm not really a hardcore collector, just sort of stumbled on it at a flea market. I think it looks neat, but I'm not sure if it's worth keeping or if I should try to sell it. Anyone know if these things are valuable? Or is it more of a nostalgia thing? Also, how do you folks decide when something's worth holding onto? Kinda new to this whole aviation collectible scene, so any advice or thoughts would be awesome!
Just snagged a vintage United Airlines amenity kit - keep or sell?
If you're not super attached to it, maybe check out eBay or some aviation collector sites to see if similar kits have sold and for how much. These things can sometimes fetch a decent price if they're in good condition. But if you think it's cool and like having it around, just keep it! I've got a couple of older airline items myself that aren't worth much, but they're fun to have. What's the condition like? That can make a big difference.
I've got a few of those old kits myself, and honestly, the value can be hit or miss. Some folks really dig the nostalgia, especially if it's from an airline or era they love. If you're not attached, maybe check completed listings on eBay for a ballpark figure. But if it brings you joy just looking at it, might be worth keeping around. Sometimes these little pieces of history are just cool to have on the shelf, even if they're not worth a ton.
