Spirit's LGA Slots: $87M Headache or Jackpot?

Started by Cruise551 1 months ago 1 replies 88 views
So Spirit Airlines is going through a bankruptcy mess, and now their LaGuardia slots are up for grabs. Apparently, these 22 daily slots could go for $87 million. Crazy, right? LaGuardia's a tough nut to crack because of all those federal restrictions on flights. Everyone wants a piece of that pie.

But here's the kicker: budget carriers might not be lining up to snag them. Seems like the big price tag isn't as appealing if you're trying to keep costs low for passengers. I mean, how do you keep ticket prices down with such expensive slots?

Honestly, I think these might end up with one of the bigger airlines who can afford it. Just makes more sense for them even if it's a hefty price. But who knows, maybe we'll see a surprise bid from somewhere unexpected.

What do you guys think? Will a major player swoop in, or is there a chance a smaller airline might take the plunge? And what impact do you think this'll have on ticket prices if a budget airline does manage to get them? Curious to hear your thoughts!
