Turkey's Big Move: Buying into Air Europa!

Started by PTYGate32 1 months ago 1 replies 58 views
So, Turkish Airlines is making waves by grabbing a 25-27% stake in Air Europa. Spain just gave the thumbs up to this deal, after the foreign investment board was cool with it back in May. Turkish Airlines is dropping a hefty EUR300 million for this minority stake. Now, they're just waiting for the European Commission to give the final go-ahead.

Honestly, I think it's a smart move for Turkish Airlines. Air Europa's got a decent presence in Europe, and this could give Turkish Airlines more of a foothold there. Plus, with all the airline alliances and partnerships these days, it seems like having a stake in another airline can really pay off.

But I'm kinda curious-how do you guys think this will affect the competition in Europe? And do you think we'll see more airlines doing these kinds of cross-border investments? Seems like the aviation world is getting more interconnected every day.
