So LOT Polish Airlines just kicked off a new route from Warsaw to Almaty, Kazakhstan. What's wild is they're using a Boeing 737 for this - an 8-hour flight! That's a long haul for a narrow-body. I mean, usually, you'd see a 787 or something on that kind of route.
According to Robert Ludera from LOT, this route is all about tapping into the Central Asian market, which I guess is becoming more important for them. But man, flying a 737 for 8 hours seems like pushing it to the edge of its range.
I think it's cool they're expanding like this, but I'm just wondering how comfortable those flights will be. Like, is there enough room for passengers when you're stuck in a 737 for that long? Anyone flown on a similar long narrow-body route? How'd it compare to a wide-body experience?
Also, do you guys think this is a one-off or will we see more airlines doing long routes with smaller planes? Seems like a trend lately with the A321XLR coming out soon too. Curious what everyone thinks about this move by LOT!
