So, United Airlines just put in a big order for some A321XLRs. I think it's around 70 of them, if I'm not mistaken. I guess these planes are supposed to be a game-changer for longer routes that aren't quite long-haul but need more range than a regular narrowbody can handle. It's kinda fascinating how they're planning to use them - more transatlantic flights, maybe?
Anyway, I wonder how this will affect their existing fleet. They've already got a bunch of 757s and 767s, so are these new A321XLRs going to replace some of those older models? Or are they just expanding? I read somewhere the A321XLRs have a longer range than the current A321neos, which is pretty cool.
What do you guys think? Is this going to give United an edge over other airlines, or is it just another fleet upgrade? Curious to see how this plays out!
